Living in Thankfulness

I recently heard someone say that 2018 was a rough year for them. I then realized I’ve heard this from a lot of people. I found it a bit peculiar that I seemed to have a really good year while everyone else seemed to have such a rough one.

I thought about it for a minute and I realized I did have some really tough things happen to me that year. Why then did I completely forget about them when I was considering my year? I pondered this for a few more minutes. The Lord brought to my mind that I have been working  on living in thankfulness.

I then realized when you are thankful for what you have, you don’t focus on what you don’t have. You’ve probably heard this before. I know I have heard it several times, but what was new to me is that it applies to situations too!

God was showing me that by living in thankfulness the negative situations in your life are not your focus. When you are thankful for God’s goodness in your life you begin to make that your focus. It’s like positive tunnel vision, the more you focus on your thankfulness to the Father the more that it becomes your primary focus.

By living in a place of thankfulness the negative experiences of the past year were not in the forefront of my mind. I had to purposely try to remember what they even were! I am by no means perfect in this. I still catch myself grumbling and complaining but every single time this happens is because I lose focus on what’s been done for me!

We don’t do this simply for ourselves though. We must live in faithfulness as a testament to God’s goodness to others. In Psalms 107 it begins by telling everyone to make it known everything God has done for them. It goes on to list these very things. I want to skip ahead to verses 21&22

Psalms 107:21-22 “21 So lift your hands and give thanks to God for his marvelous kindness and for his miracles of mercy for those he loves! 22 Bring your praise as an offering and your thanks as a sacrifice as you sing your story of miracles with joyful song!”

We need to be walking billboards for God’s faithfulness! The best way to do this is to live a thankful life. It is impossible to be negative while being thankful. Others will see that something is different with you than with other people. It says this explicitly in 2nd Chronicles 4:15

2 Cor 4:15 “Yes, all things work for your enrichment so that more of God’s marvelous grace will spread to more and more people, resulting in an even greater increase of praise to God, bringing him even more glory!”

By not living in thankfulness not only are we doing ourselves a disservice but we are doing a disservice to those around us. We have the Good News if we go around with dower looks upon our faces always complaining or grumbling, then how will anyone know it? Actions speak louder than words, if we profess the Good News of Jesus Christ but turn around and don’t evidence it with our lives. Then who in their right minds is going to want any part of it?

How many of you when someone buys you food immediately thinks of all the times they didn’t buy you food? It sounds goofy doesn’t it? This is what it is like when we dwell on all the times where God didn’t move the way we wanted or thought he should have. We look past somebody buying our lunch to think of when they didn’t! Not only that but think of how that person feels. They went out of their way perform an act of kindness and received complaints that they didn’t do it sooner or as often as they wanted. But if you accept the meal with joy and thankfulness not only do you feel better but the one who bought it for you gets the joy of seeing their friend happy and contented.

Psalms 30:4 “O sing and make melody, you steadfast lovers of God. Give thanks to him every time you reflect on his holiness!”

Psalms 30:12 “ How can I be silent when it’s time to praise you? Now my heart sings out loud, bursting with joy – a bliss inside that keeps me singing, ‘I can never thank you enough!’”

This is the attitude we need to have. We need to be so full of thankfulness that we can not contain it! We need to think back to all the things God has done for us big and small. If we do this there should not be anything there but thankfulness. God doesn’t have to do anything but he chooses to out of love for us. We can not repay him with anything less than thankfulness!

Living in Thankfulness

Church Rise Up!

It is not the time to give up. It is time for us to take back the seven mountains. It is time for a holy infiltration. Now is not the time to be silent. For too long the Church has ceded its rightful place as a cultural influence. We are to be in the world not of it. Which means that we are not to run and hide while everything goes on around us. We are called to be world changers. We cannot change the world if we are isolating ourselves from those who we need to influence.

#Taketheknee a Kaepernick Story

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the NFL as it relates to the #taketheknee anthem protests. This controversy all leads back to one single individual, Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick claims he was cut from the San Francisco 49ers because he decided to take a knee during the national anthem. There is evidence that shows this may not be the case however.

Similar actions from an ever-growing number of players has garnered much support from team CEOs as well as other members of the NFL faculty.

It was an honor and a privilege to stand arm-in-arm unified with our players during today’s national anthem. We are very proud of our players and their strong commitment to work in our community to make it positive, constructive, and unifying impact. -Christopher Johnson chairman and CEO of the New York Jets

I am deeply disappointed by the tone of the comments made by the president on Friday. I’m proud to be associated with so many players to make such tremendous contributions in positively impacting our community. Their efforts both on and off the field, help bring people together and make our community stronger. There is no greater unifier in this country than sports and unfortunately, nothing more divisive than politics. I think our political leaders can learn a lot from the lessons of teamwork in the importance of working together towards a common goal. Our are intelligent, thoughtful and care deeply about our community and I support their right to peacefully affect social change and raise awareness in a manner they feel is most impactful.- Patriots chairman and CEO Robert Kraft.

Our country needs unifying leadership right now, not more divisiveness. We need to seek to understand each other and have civil discourse instead of condemnation and soundbites. I know our players and meals for the anthem and these are smart young man of character who want to make our world a better place for everyone. They wanted to start a conversation and are making a difference in our community, including working with law-enforcement to bring people together. We can all benefit from learning, listening and respecting each other. Sports is a common denominator in our world. We all have the responsibility to use this platform to promote understanding, respect and equality.-owner of the Miami Dolphins Stephen Ross

The CEO of the 49ers himself had this to say

The callous and offensive comments made by the president are contradictory to what this great country stands for. Our players have exercised their rights as United States citizens in order to spark conversation in action to address social injustice. We will continue to support them in their peaceful pursuit of positive change in our country and around the world. The San Francisco 49ers will continue to work towards bringing communities, and those who serve them, closer together.-San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York

Is this is not the reason that Kaepernick was cut from the team what other reason could there be? A quick look at his stats might shed some insight in 2013 his QB ranking ranking was 7, in 2014 it dropped down to 16, in 2015 it was all the way down to 29, and only gained a few more slots back to 23 in 2016.1

It is entirely possible that the 49ers were looking to get rid of Kaepernick not because of his political stance but simply because he was underperforming.

Climate Change

The subject of climate change is a hotly debated issue and there is a lot of controversy over what is fact and what is fiction. Hopefully when you finish reading this you will walk away with a better understanding of the subject.

Firstly what is climate change?

A quick search turns up lots of results I’ve decided to go with this one

Climate change is a change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns when that change lasts for an extended period of time (i.e., decades to millions of years). Climate change may refer to a change in average weather conditions, or in the time variation of weather around longer-term average conditions (i.e., more or fewer extreme weather events). Climate change is caused by factors such as biotic processes, variations in solar radiation received by Earth, plate tectonics, and volcanic eruptions. Certain human activities have also been identified as significant causes of recent climate change, often referred to as global warming.[1]

In summary it’s basically the change in statistically measurable weather patterns over time. Which leads us to the question.

Are we experiencing climate change?

Well according to NOAA we have had warmer than average temperatures lately (For all you number buffs you can read it here) according to the same source there has been about a 2° Fahrenheit increase in temperature since 1880 (you can see the whole chart here

Though not all are in agreement with this study. There is a counter study that points out some flaws of the NOAA study. They claim that there has actually been a hiatus in the global temperature increase.

During the first decade of the twenty-first century, the Earth’s surface warmed more slowly than climate models simulated. This surface-warming hiatus is attributed by some studies to model errors in external forcing while others point to heat rearrangements in the ocean caused by internal variability, the timing of which cannot be predicted by the models. However, observational analyses disagree about which ocean region is responsible. Here we show that the hiatus could also have been caused by internal variability in the top-of-atmosphere energy imbalance. Energy budgeting for the ocean surface layer over a 100-member historical ensemble reveals that hiatuses are caused by energy-flux deviations as small as 0.08 W m−2, which can originate at the top of the atmosphere, in the ocean, or both.

(You can read the whole article here

Looking at both results shows that even if there has been a hiatus there has been some degree of change. Moving along then.

Is climate change negatively impacting our environment?

One of the most commonly cited examples of the negative consequences of climate change is shrinking ice caps at the poles. According to NASA’s own research however the ice in Antarctica is actually growing.

A new NASA study says that an increase in Antarctic snow accumulation that began 10,000 years ago is currently adding enough ice to the continent to outweigh the increased losses from its thinning glaciers. The research challenges the conclusions of other studies, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) 2013 report, which says that Antarctica is overall losing land ice. According to the new analysis of satellite data, the Antarctic ice sheet showed a net gain of 112 billion tons of ice a year from 1992 to 2001. That net gain slowed to 82 billion tons of ice per year between 2003 and 2008. 2

(And before you go off and say “hey it’s gotten slower” or “it’s decreasing” might I remind you it’s still a net gain of 83 billion tons per year.)

The study goes on to say that despite a period of decreased snow fall the ice continued to thicken.

Zwally said that while other scientists have assumed that the gains in elevation seen in East Antarctica are due to recent increases in snow accumulation, his team used meteorological data beginning in 1979 to show that the snowfall in East Antarctica actually decreased by 11 billion tons per year during both the ERS and ICESat periods. They also used information on snow accumulation for tens of thousands of years, derived by other scientists from ice cores, to conclude that East Antarctica has been thickening for a very long time. 2

Not only that but the ice is growing faster than it breaks off as glaciers.

The extra snowfall that began 10,000 years ago has been slowly accumulating on the ice sheet and compacting into solid ice over millennia, thickening the ice in East Antarctica and the interior of West Antarctica by an average of 0.7 inches (1.7 centimeters) per year. This small thickening, sustained over thousands of years and spread over the vast expanse of these sectors of Antarctica, corresponds to a very large gain of ice – enough to outweigh the losses from fast-flowing glaciers in other parts of the continent and reduce global sea level rise.  2

(If you want to read the article in its entirety click here). Another example the climate change crowd really likes to thought is the disappearance of the polar bear. By all the talk one would assume that polar bears are on the verge of extinction, right? Well you would be wrong. The polar bear population has actually grown not shrank observe.

In its final Conservation Management Plan, the Fish and Wildlife Service painted a grim picture for the future of the massive Arctic-dwelling mammal, warning that its fate will be determined “by our willingness and ability to address climate change.” “The current global polar bear population is estimated to be 26,000,” said the Fish and Wildlife Service. “If greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise at the current rates throughout the 21st century, polar bears will likely disappear from much of their present-day range.” The announcement prompted pushback from zoologist Susan J. Crockford, founder of the Polar Bear Science website, who blasted the service for igniting a rash of “sensationalized nonsense” by fueling alarmist media reports. Since 2007, “summer sea ice coverage has declined to levels their sea ice colleagues said would not occur until 2050 yet 2/3 of the world’s polar bears did not disappear as [U.S. Geological Service] biologists predicted,” Ms. Crockford said in a post. The polar bear was listed as threatened in 2008 as a result of declining Arctic sea ice, but its population has proved remarkably resilient, although the Fish and Wildlife Service plan doesn’t mention that, she said. 7

Just in case you were wondering these are the actual population numbers

The International Union for Conservation of Nature pegs the polar bear population at between 22,000 and 31,000, which she called “the highest estimate in 50 years.” Studies have shown increases in some of the 19 Arctic polar-bear populations. In 2013, the FWSreported the Chukchi Sea population in Alaska was doing “quite well,” while the Norwegian Polar Institute found in 2015 that the Barents Sea polar bears had risen by 42 percent since 2004. 7

Ok so two of the biggest pros are bust lets go to the next question. Are the climate numbers reliable?

In short “eh….probably not” and here’s why. According to the Daily Mail NOAA was caught fudging the numbers right before the Paris climate agreement.

A high-level whistleblower has told this newspaper that America’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) breached its own rules on scientific integrity when it published the sensational but flawed report, aimed at making the maximum possible impact on world leaders including Barack Obama and David Cameron at the UN climate conference in Paris in 2015. 3

The article goes on to say the whistleblower is.

But the whistleblower, Dr John Bates, a top NOAA scientist with an impeccable reputation, has shown The Mail on Sunday irrefutable evidence that the paper was based on misleading, ‘unverified’ data. It was never subjected to NOAA’s rigorous internal evaluation process – which Dr Bates devised. 3

(You can read the full article here

Not only that but some 300 scientists sent a letter to congress telling them that NOAA is full of it.

Hundreds of scientists sent a letter to lawmakers Thursday warning National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) scientists may have violated federal laws when they published a 2015 study purporting to eliminate the 15-year “hiatus” in global warming from the temperature record. 4

They go on to say,

“We, the undersigned, scientists, engineers, economists and others, who have looked carefully into the effects of carbon dioxide released by human activities, wish to record our support for the efforts of the Committee on Science, Space and Technology to ensure that federal agencies complied with federal guidelines that implemented the Data Quality Act,” some 300 scientists, engineers and other experts wrote to Chairman of the House Science Committee, Texas Republican Rep. Lamar Smith.  “In our opinion… NOAA has failed to observe the OMB [Office of Management and Budget] (and its own) guidelines, established in relation to the Data Quality Act.” The Data Quality Act requires federal agencies like NOAA to “ensure and maximize the quality, objectivity, utility, and integrity of information, including statistical information.”4

Rep. Smith launched an investigation into NOAA which experienced push back from democrats and the media (pardon the redundancy) [4]. These scientists were all highly qualified as well.

Of the 300 letter signers, 150 had doctorates in a related field. Signers also included: 25 climate or atmospheric scientists, 23 geologists, 18 meteorologists, 51 engineers, 74 physicists, 20 chemists and 12 economists. Additionally, one signer was a Nobel Prize winning physicist and two were astronauts. 4

Essentially NOAA did not follow the required guidelines for verifying the data from there experiments. Not only that but they go well n to accuse NOAA of down right fudging the numbers to make it look disastrous. And it just so happens that the results came out right before the Paris climate conference (go figure).

NOAA scientists upwardly adjusted temperature readings taken from the engine intakes of ships to eliminate the “hiatus” in global warming from the temperature record. The NOAA study in dispute claims the scientists found a solution to the 15-year “pause” in global warming. They “adjusted” the hiatus in warming the temperature record from 1998 to 2012, the “new analysis exhibits more than twice as much warming as the old analysis at the global scale.” “As has been acknowledged by numerous scientists, the engine intake data are clearly contaminated by heat conduction from the structure, and as such, never intended for scientific use,” wrote climate scientists Dr. Patrick J. Michaels and Dr. Richard S. Lindzen of the libertarian Cato Institute on the in the science blog Watts Up With That. “Adjusting good data upward to match bad data seems questionable.” “If we subtract the [old] data from the [new] data… we can see that that is exactly what NOAA did,” climate expert Bob Tisdale and meteorologist Anthony Watts wrote on the same science blog. “It’s the same story all over again; the adjustments go towards cooling the past and thus increasing the slope of temperature rise. Their intent and methods are so obvious they’re laughable.” 4

You may be wondering “what about the 97% of scientists that agree it’s a disastrous problem?” Have no fear I’ll answer that too. It’s simple they don’t. That is a lie that has been perpetrated for years now that has no basis in fact. You might be wondering where this number came from then. It came from one article and the results of this article have been parroted so much that people began to accept it as fact (Here is the article in question).

Fret not as this article has been debunked. The counter article points out that they used a faulty method for attributing agreement to the scientists.

However, inspection of a claim by Cook et al. (Environ Res Lett 8:024024, 2013) of 97.1 % consensus, heavily relied upon by Bedford and Cook, shows just 0.3 % endorsement of the standard definition of consensus: that most warming since 1950 is anthropogenic. 5

Seriously 0.3% that’s it that’s everyone that believed that man is the cause of climate change. The original article used such a lax standard for agreement that it’s laughable. The counter article goes so far as to say its intentionally misleading.

Agnotology is the study of how ignorance arises via circulation of misinformation calculated to mislead. Legates et al. (Sci Educ 22:2007–2017, 2013) had questioned the applicability of agnotology to politically-charged debates. In their reply, Bedford and Cook (Sci Educ 22:2019–2030, 2013), seeking to apply agnotology to climate science, asserted that fossil-fuel interests had promoted doubt about a climate consensus. Their definition of climate ‘misinformation’ was contingent upon the post-modernist assumptions that scientific truth is discernible by measuring a consensus among experts, and that a near unanimous consensus exists. 5

Even if 97% of scientists did agree it overlooks one key fact. Science is not about consensus! At one point and time there was a consensus that the earth was the center of the universe. Look how that panned out (See the counter article here). So basically

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” ~ Joseph Goebbels (Adolf Hitler’s Propagandist)

That does beg the question. Why would the myth disastrous man made climate change become preached as fact?

It is simple cash, money, moola, green backs. There is a lot of profit in being a minister for the church of climate change (anyone else pick up on the religious connotations of calling someone a denier?). Don’t believe me? The National Review actually wrote a piece about it. They say,

In truth, the overwhelming majority of climate-research funding comes from the federal government and left-wing foundations. And while the energy industry funds both sides of the climate debate, the government/foundation monies go only toward research that advances the warming regulatory agenda. With a clear public-policy outcome in mind, the government/foundation gravy train is a much greater threat to scientific integrity. 6

While this may be news to some, many have been saying this for years. Integrity has been sacrificed at the alter of profit. The article continues,

Indeed, experts in the research community say that it is much more difficult for some of the top climate scientists — Soon, Roger Pielke Jr., the CATO Institute’s Patrick Michaels, MIT’s now-retired Richard Lindzen — to get funding for their work because they do not embrace the global-warming fearmongering favored by the government-funded climate establishment. 6

Climatologists like Michael Mann have even been caught fudging the numbers but a blind eye has been turned

Mann is the controversial director of Pennsylvania State’s Earth System Science Center. He was at the center of the 2009 Climategate scandal, in which e-mails were uncovered from climatologists discussing how to skew scientific evidence and blackball experts who don’t agree with them. Mann is typical of pro-warming scientists who have taken millions from government agencies. The federal government — which will gain unprecedented regulatory power if climate legislation is passed — has funded scientific research to the tune of $32.5 billion since 1989, according the Science and Public Policy Institute. That is an amount that dwarfs research contributions from oil companies and utilities, which have historically funded both sides of the debate. Mann, for example, has received some $6 million, mostly in government grants — according to a study by The American Spectator — including $500,000 in federal stimulus money while he was under investigation for his Climategate e-mails. 6

(You can read the full article here)

In conclusion is climate change real? it’s possible. Is it man made? Unlikely, although we may contribute a small amount. Is it a threat? not likely. Is it credible? No. Why? It is extremely profitable to fudge the numbers.

Gun control and the Founding Fathers intent

Gun control is a hot button issue at the moment. This is leading many to question the Founding Fathers intent regarding the second amendment. Let’s discuss this for a moment shall we?

There are several misunderstandings when it comes to the second amendment. One of these misunderstandings is the belief that the second amendment only applies to muskets. Although this has been thoroughly debunked1 I shall attempt to do so as well.

Let’s start with what the second amendment actually says,

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”2

What are arms? Arms are defined as,

1Weapons and ammunition; armaments: they were subjugated by force of arms3

After being confronted with this many will counter with essentially calling the Founding Fathers stupid. Oh my bad I mean the Founding Fathers simply did not possess the necessary visionary skills to foresee weaponry advancement.

I’m going to dissect this just a little bit. Firstly the second amendment was written in 1791. Muskets were not the only form of weaponry at this time. One example is the puckle gun,

The Puckle gun (also known as the Defence gun) was a primitive crew-served, manually-operated flintlock[1] revolver patented in 1718 by James Puckle (1667–1724) a British inventor, lawyer and writer. It was one of the earliest weapons to be referred to as a “machine gun”, being called such in a 1722 shipping manifest,[2] though its operation does not match the modern use of the term.4

Another gun available at this time was the Cookson rifle,

About 1650 a type of repeating gun was invented in which the powder and ball were carried in two tubular magazines set into the butt. It also had a cylindrical breech-block that rotated on an axis set across the line of the barrel. The system is named after an Italian gunmaker, Michele Lorenzoni, who is recorded as working in Florence around 1685. He made several repeating guns of this type.5

Another would be the Girandoni air rifle,

The rifle was 4 ft (1.2 m) long and weighed 10 lb (4.5 kg), about the same basic size and weight as other muskets of the time. It fired a .46 caliber ball [3] (caliber is contested, original sources such as Dolleczek [4] describe the caliber as 13mm (.51cal)) and it had a tubular, gravity-fed magazine with a capacity of 20 balls. This gravity operated design was such that the rifle had to be pointed upwards in order to drop each ball into the breech block. Unlike its contemporary, muzzle-loading muskets, which required the rifleman to stand up to reload with powder and ball, the shooter could reload a ball from the magazine by holding the rifle vertically while lying on his back and operating the ball delivery mechanism. The rifleman then could roll back into position to fire, allowing the rifleman to keep a “low profile”.6

There were many other guns available at this time and if you’re interested you can click Here or Here

So after hearing all this you may be tempted to reply with “well those are military weapons the Founding Fathers didn’t intend on the average citizen to have them” and I would say “I beg to differ”. If you look at the writings of the Founding Fathers you would see the context of what they say makes the second amendment even clearer.

“A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined…”

– George Washington, First Annual Address, to both House of Congress, January 8, 1790

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”

– Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Constitution, Draft 1, 1776

“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.”

– Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787

“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.”

– Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, December 20, 1787

“The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes…. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”

– Thomas Jefferson, Commonplace Book (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria), 1774-1776

“A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.” – Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, August 19, 1785

“The Constitution of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed.”

– Thomas Jefferson, letter to to John Cartwright, 5 June 1824

“On every occasion [of Constitutional interpretation] let us carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying [to force] what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, [instead let us] conform to the probable one in which it was passed.”

– Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Johnson, 12 June 1823

“I enclose you a list of the killed, wounded, and captives of the enemy from the commencement of hostilities at Lexington in April, 1775, until November, 1777, since which there has been no event of any consequence … I think that upon the whole it has been about one half the number lost by them, in some instances more, but in others less. This difference is ascribed to our superiority in taking aim when we fire; every soldier in our army having been intimate with his gun from his infancy.”

– Thomas Jefferson, letter to Giovanni Fabbroni, June 8, 1778

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

– Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759

“To disarm the people…[i]s the most effectual way to enslave them.”

– George Mason, referencing advice given to the British Parliament by Pennsylvania governor Sir William Keith, The Debates in the Several State Conventions on the Adooption of the Federal Constitution, June 14, 1788

“I ask who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers.”

– George Mason, Address to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 4, 1788

“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every country in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops.”

– Noah Webster, An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution, October 10, 1787

“Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of.”

– James Madison, Federalist No. 46, January 29, 1788

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country.”

– James Madison, I Annals of Congress 434, June 8, 1789

“…the ultimate authority, wherever the derivative may be found, resides in the people alone…”

– James Madison, Federalist No. 46, January 29, 1788

“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.”

– William Pitt (the Younger), Speech in the House of Commons, November 18, 1783

“A militia when properly formed are in fact the people themselves…and include, according to the past and general usuage of the states, all men capable of bearing arms… “To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.”

– Richard Henry Lee, Federal Farmer No. 18, January 25, 1788

“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined…. The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.”

– Patrick Henry, Speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 5, 1778

“This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty…. The right of self defense is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.”

– St. George Tucker, Blackstone’s Commentaries on the Laws of England, 1803

“The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms, like law, discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The balance ofpower is the scale of peace. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside. And while a single nation refuses to lay them down, it is proper that all should keep them up. Horrid mischief would ensue were one-half the world deprived of the use of them; for while avarice and ambition have a place in the heart of man, the weak will become a prey to the strong. The history of every age and nation establishes these truths, and facts need but little arguments when they prove themselves.”

– Thomas Paine, “Thoughts on Defensive War” in Pennsylvania Magazine, July 1775

“The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.”

– Samuel Adams, Massachusetts Ratifying Convention, 1788

“The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.”

– Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States, 1833

“What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty …. Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins.”

– Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts, I Annals of Congress 750, August 17, 1789

“For it is a truth, which the experience of ages has attested, that the people are always most in danger when the means of injuring their rights are in the possession of those of whom they entertain the least suspicion.”

– Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 25, December 21, 1787

“If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no resource left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government, and which against the usurpations of the national rulers, may be exerted with infinitely better prospect of success than against those of the rulers of an individual state. In a single state, if the persons intrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair.”

– Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 28

“[I]f circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens. This appears to me the only substitute that can be devised for a standing army, and the best possible security against it, if it should exist.”

– Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 28, January 10, 1788

“As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms.”

– Tench Coxe, Philadelphia Federal Gazette, June 18, 1789 7

I think it’s pretty clear the Founding Fathers view point on citizens owning guns. They believed that private gun ownership was very important. How anyone can read these quotes and discern anything other than a belief in a need for private gun ownership.

Another one of these myths is that the second amendment is only for the militia. This has also been previously debunked 8 I will attempt to debunk this myself as well. As this is basically a rehash of what I said up above I’ll make this short.

The Founding Fathers wanted the general populace to not only own firearms but be proficient in their use(see all quotes above). You see the Founders had just excaped from the control of the oppressive government of Great Britain. And they knew what happens when the government takes away you’re ability to defend yourself. Because if you have no way to defend yourself then what will stop a government from becoming oppressive? The Founders were very worried about preserving our rights because they had seen what Britain had done to them.

I urge all of you to do your own research. Don’t just take my word for it nor should you dismiss it without looking it up for yourself.

Gun control and the Founding Fathers intent

Black Lives Matter

With all of the malice and all the hate With all that goes on in this crazy place, Don’t you realize that without forgiveness nothing will ever change?
As long as there is evil in this world people will do awful things but that is not an excuse to do awful things in return. If you reciprocate evil for evil nothing will ever change.

It is true that Blacks have been mistreated in this country, but how does promoting violence against cops help? If you think that cops are racist, if you want to make a difference go out and become a cop, run for office, get involved with charity groups. Rioting and murder will not help your cause.
Look to Martin Luther King Jr. He always insisted on peaceful protests. Look at what he accomplished.

Forgiveness and love are the keys to healing the rift. If we don’t try loving each other things will only get worse.

Black Lives Matter

Debunking a myth

I recently read an article titled “You Are More Than 7 Times As Likely To Be Killed By A Right-Wing Extremist Than By Muslim Terrorists”.1

First things first the picture used in the post is one of the KKK, I don’t know if they still teach this in school but news flash the KKK was democrat!!!

The historian Elaine Frantz Parsons describes the membership2:

Lifting the Klan mask revealed a chaotic multitude of antiblack vigilante groups, disgruntled poor white farmers, wartime guerrilla bands, displaced Democratic politicians, illegal whiskey distillers, coercive moral reformers, sadists, rapists, white workmen fearful of black competition, employers trying to enforce labor discipline, common thieves, neighbors with decades-old grudges, and even a few freedmen and white Republicans who allied with Democratic whites or had criminal agendas of their own. Indeed, all they had in common, besides being overwhelmingly white, southern, and Democratic, was that they called themselves, or were called, Klansmen.

To address the second issue, The shooting in colorado at a planned parenthood. The shooter, Robert Lewis Dear, was not a republican he was registered as a “unaffiliated female”. Yes his gender is listed as female. It is also important to note that Mr. Dear also has priors, And at the time of this writing there has been no motive found for his shooting nor has the planned parenthood been determined to be his intended target.3

And as for the videos you can watch them here http://www.breitbart.com/?s=planned+parenthood

The article in question also classifies Neo-Nazisvand similar groups as right-wing but here is a description of Neo-Nazi4

There are several neo-Nazi groups in the United States. The National Socialist Movement (NSM), with about 400 members in 32 states,[156] is currently the largest neo-Nazi organization in the United States.[157] After World War II, new organizations formed with varying degrees of support for Nazi principles. The National States’ Rights Party, founded in 1958 by Edward Reed Fields and J. B. Stonercountered racial integration in the Southern United States with Nazi-inspired publications and iconography.

Notice the word socialist last time I checked that was more of a democrat thing, paging Bernie Sanders, but really what is a socialist?5

The socialist political movement includes a diverse array of political philosophies that originated amid the revolutionary movements of the mid-to-late 1700s out of general concern for the social problems that were associated with capitalism.[10] In addition to the debate over the degree to which to rely on markets versus planning, the varieties of socialism differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, how management is to be organized within productive institutions, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.[3][10]

One of the best examples of socialism was the U.S.S.R. (oh by the way the glorious Lenin is quoted as saying “socialism’s ultimate goal is communism”).

Now let’s talk about Muslim Extremists. the Quran tells all muslims to kill all unbelievers,

Quran (2:191-193)“And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killing…

but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful.   And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone.  But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun (the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)”

Quran (2:244)“Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things.”

Quran (2:216)Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.”

Quran (3:151)“Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority”.

Quran (4:74)“Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.”

Quran (4:76)“Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…”

Quran (4:89)“They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks.”

Quran (4:95)“Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward ”

Quran (5:33)“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement”

there are many many more verses saying the same thing kill, kill, kill. What’s that about a religion of peace? by the way there are approximately 1.57 billion muslims in the world and here are some stats on terrorism.7
